Birthday Thoughts
Today is my birthday. It’s been a pretty normal day so far. I’m working in my clinic. My kids stayed home from school today so they could spend more time with my mom and stepdad who are in town. I had a quiet 30 minute commute to myself this morning instead of the usual chaos with them in the back seat.
I couldn’t help but think how much I’m enjoying my 30s. I’m finally working in my field after years of training. I’ve become more relaxed as a mom and I have time to do more things for myself now. This season of life has also allowed me to become more comfortable just with myself in general. In college and in my 20s I think insecurity is just so prevalent. Not trying to speak for everyone, but I do think that going through any transitional phase can cause feelings of insecurity or inadequateness. College, post-grad work or even just entering the workforce after high school is such a transition!
I have talked a lot with other Moms in this space, check out the Mom Series if you haven’t yet, and I know the transition into motherhood/parenthood can be so difficult as well. Of course, it’s beautiful and amazing but it can also feel messy, chaotic and overwhelming.
It’s really nice to finally just feel content. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the insane transition my family has gone through in the last year as well. Obviously we had a ton of turbulence last year while navigating a cross country move. We have settled in though now and I’m excited to see where the rest of this year takes us.
Basically, I wanted to jump on here and give a PSA to anyone going through any kind of transition phase. They are hard. It can suck. But I promise, now being on the other side of a lot of transitions, it feels good. It will all be worth it in the end! Now off to have a glass a wine with my family and celebrate another year on this Earth!
Have a great weekend and thanks for being here with me!
