My 2023 Big Texas Goals
I spent a ton of time at the beginning of the year making a giant list of my goals / resolutions for 2023. Figured it would be fun to at least share my Texas related goals! If you missed my last post on our Texas life updates, you can find that here.
Read “Being Texan” (my sister gave us this book for Christmas!)
Continue to explore our surrounding areas – find new restaurants!
My goal is to continue to try new places – We already have two go-to places. Haha, we need to work on branching out.
For anyone local, Earl’s 377 Pizza in Argyle and Torchy’s Tacos – any of their locations (if you know, you know).

I do want to start a post or make a running list for kid or toddler friendly places in our area. I’ve been super overwhelmed looking for restaurants that seem kid approved or kid friendly – clearly there’s a need for a blog post there! Although, I will say Noah at 19 months is kind of at a hard age to really enjoy dining out with. Bryan and I may just reserve our eating out for date nights. Then we have a lot more options as far as places we can try!
On that note, our goal (read, my goal), is to have a date night once a month. Then I would also like to continue to golf once a month. I know he would love to play more frequently than that – and he probably will once he meets some people to play with. I just don’t think it will be feasible for me to play more than once a month since we will need a sitter.
We also want to take advantage of our daycare time while we can. I’m out of work early on Fridays. Going on a hike / finding trails that aren’t stroller friendly has been an enjoyable activity for us. I hope we continue doing that most Friday afternoons before we pick the boys up – weather permitting of course.

Visit a few different museums, the zoo, the aquariums and/or botanical gardens with the boys. We really haven’t done any of that yet. Both Fort Worth and Dallas have options.
Spend some more time in downtown Fort Worth – we actually live closer to Fort Worth than Dallas. I learned recently that when our neighbors say “downtown” they are referring to Fort Worth.
Make some friends! Haha, I’m still on the lookout for some Mom friends in our neighborhood and Bryan is on the hunt for some golf partners. Although, I think I have a promising lead on a play date – both for Bryan and me and the kiddos. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Plan for some more family visits! We have family coming to visit for sure in February and March this year. It will be nice to do some more exploring with them as well.
Start using “y’all” in conversation – it really just feels so unnatural to me. But I think my use of “you guys” gives away my Midwest roots! I guess that’s not a bad thing.
Do you have any other ideas for us as we get used to our new surroundings? Let me know below!

My daughter and son-in-law, who live in Madison, WI, committed to 52 new restaurants in the year starting in 2022. And they are committing to doing it again this year. Some duds, but many gems found. Enjoy the adventure!!
