We recently had friends in town. One of Bryan\u2019s oldest friends and his wife visited us for a long weekend. We crammed in as many quintessential DFW activities as we could. This included 2 different professional Dallas sports team games!  It was so fun to have people in town to give us an excuse to do some things we might not have done by ourselves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let me just give you the run-down of everything we did. We had Texas barbecue<\/a>. We visited the Fort Worth Stockyards and had dinner in downtown Fort Worth. Bryan and his friend played golf at our country club. We went to a Dallas Cowboys<\/a> pre-season game. We visited the Dallas Farmers Market. They went on a hike near our house and visited a Buc-ees. (We don\u2019t have those in Michigan where they live). Finally, we wrapped up their visit with a Texas Rangers baseball game!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a whirlwind weekend. We had a great time though and I think they did as well! I wanted to share with you my thoughts on the two stadiums for the games we attended. Spoiler alert, I wasn\u2019t a huge fan of the Cowboys stadium. Let me explain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I should say, we are not Cowboys fans. We don\u2019t plan on becoming Cowboys fans now that we live in Dallas. Detroit Lions through and through. Our kids may end up being Cowboys fans and that\u2019s OK. It\u2019s just not our plan. But, we wanted to see the stadium and check it out. It\u2019s huge. Insane. I just looked it up, there is seating there for 80,000 people. It seemed insanely larger than Ford Field in Detroit (my only other NFL stadium experience). That stadium can hold 65,000 people. I swear though, this one had 3 more levels compared to Ford! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sporting event tickets can get pretty pricey. We took the kids to this game so we didn\u2019t feel like getting too crazy with our seats since we had to buy 6 tickets. We weren\u2019t at the very top of the stadium, we were one level down from the top. That place has soooo many stairs! I think we climbed 6 flights to get to our seats. My kids actually had fun with that I think. Once we were to our level, I was not impressed with the food selection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And yes, I know I said we are Lions fans, but I did wear navy and white to this game. Don’t yell at me! <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I guess you don\u2019t go to a game to eat but the only options near us were the basic concessions. And the prices were so outrageous. I expected to pay a decent amount but a medium size bag of popcorn for $17?! My oldest was very upset that I didn\u2019t want to get him popcorn. He clearly doesn\u2019t understand the basics of money and cost haha. We will work on that.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our friends walked around more of the stadium and did check out some of the lower levels. It seemed like the stadium gives better options to \u201cclub members\u201d and probably season ticket holders. The rest of us lowly regular seat people get the bottom of the barrel as far as concessions go. At least that was my perception. Now, I just read an article about some kind of tailgating ticket that included food and beverages. Maybe we will look into that if we go again. I will say, I\u2019m not in a rush to get back to that stadium. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, my experience at the Rangers game was quite the opposite. That stadium was awesome. Obviously it\u2019s a little smaller than the Cowboys. But, there were so many great food options and it was a really easy stadium to walk around! Compared to the Cowboys stadium, it felt way more manageable to explore. We had the quintessential brats\/hot dogs, fries and chicken tenders and we tried Hurtado Barbeque<\/a> birria tacos. Everything was amazing, especially the tacos. It was obviously expensive but I didn\u2019t feel like the prices were outrageous.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I did see some great kid areas as well. We didn\u2019t have our boys at this game but I think I would consider taking them to a game here! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also really enjoyed that it was an indoor stadium for baseball. I thought that would be weird but it really wasn\u2019t and it\u2019s obviously necessary for the Texas heat! We both said we want to come back for a Rangers game soon. My goal will be to take the boys next summer. I think they would really enjoy it! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Final Thoughts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Cowboys games\u00a0 – will skip in the future. May just consider attending a game when the Lions are in town.\u00a0Also, Zach Bryan is going to be performing there next year – we may attend that concert! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rangers games – we will be back. Family friendly, reasonably priced and great food options.\u00a0And also, apparently the Rangers are good. Like in the playoffs good. I clearly follow sports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, since we are in the middle of college football season, I do want to think about attending some college games. We have a few universities near us. I\u2019ll report back! I’m also thinking we need to check out a Texas high school game – Friday night lights originated here right?! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
