In preparation for us heading down to Dallas this week to officially close on the house and move in<\/a>, I thought I would share our last Dallas trip with you. You might find some inspiration for a Dallas weekend trip for yourself!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We flew down at the end of August to check on our home, see the neighborhood and get some momentum going into our 8 weeks of pseudo-homelessness<\/a>. It helped, we were so excited to see our home and neighborhood! And as a bonus, we found some fun things to do while we were there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After our trip, I think a long weekend in Dallas would be a great trip for anyone looking for a getaway! Here are some of my Dallas suggestions – places we visited and also places that were suggested to us that are on our list of to dos once we move! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Restaurants<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dallas can easily be a foodie trip – we had some amazing meals while we were there. A few restaurant highlights for us are below.  I actually started a note in my phone to keep track of places we visited so we know where to go again! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taverna<\/a> – An amazing Italian place – think cozy vibes, delicious pasta in a cute little shopping district in Dallas (Knox Street)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rustic<\/a> – We didn\u2019t eat here, we stopped in and there was a surprise private event going on – Hello Walker Hayes! This is a concert venue \/  bar and restaurant. Very cool outdoor atmosphere. <\/p>\n\n\n

Meridian<\/a> – This was my favorite meal of the weekend, modern Brazilian food, garden to table kind of menu. Beautiful restaurant.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sixty Vines <\/a>– As the name implies, this restaurant is known for its wine! Over 60 wines on tap – such a unique concept. While we were there I saw a lot of big groups \/ parties. Would be a perfect stop for a bachelorette group or birthday event!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Terry Blacks BBQ<\/a> – Bryan is a huge BBQ fan – into smoking meat himself and obviously eating it. This place originated in Austin, we visited their location in Deep Ellum – another cool neighborhood in Dallas. Bryan was in heaven.<\/p>\n\n\n

Things to Do During a Weekend Trip<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With all the amazing restaurants, it\u2019s nice to find some places to walk around – offset some of that calorie intake! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trail systems around Dallas are incredible. It would be so easy to find a good walk in the city. The Botanical Gardens<\/a> came recommended to us as well and there are neighboring trails here too. We didn\u2019t get a chance to go but it\u2019s on my list! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are so many cool shopping \/ cute walkable districts as well. I mentioned Knox Street above. We spent some time window shopping. In this neighborhood – you can also cross another Dallas Must Do off your list – cowboy boot shopping! We spent a little time at Tecova\u2019s<\/a> – let me tell you, it\u2019s an experience. Immediately upon walking in, friendly staff offered us a beer or cocktail. It really was fun to check out their leather goods and try on a few pairs of cowboy boots! We ended up buying some boots for Bryan but I didn\u2019t feel pressured in any way to make a purchase. <\/p>\n\n\n

Additionally, we explored a neighborhood called Deep Ellum. This was where we found Terry Black\u2019s. We visited on a Saturday morning. While this neighborhood was cool and I did find a couple cute shops, I think it\u2019s a night scene kind of place. A 6th Street type spot if you have ever visited Austin, TX.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here’s a list of other places to consider – we had a text thread doing with our Aunt and Uncle who live in Dallas. Seriously, so much to do! Including these here for myself as well – we will have a ton to explore with the boys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 6th Floor Museum <\/a>– chronicles of the life and assassination of JFK<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dallas World Aquarium <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Perot Museum of Nature and Science<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Observation Deck <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Six Flags in Arlington<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dallas Zoo<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thinking about Dallas as a travel destination, it could easily be a place to visit with your family. Obviously with so much to do I think it would be a great place to visit with your littles. Bryan and I had a great time just the two of us though so I think you could go either way! You may be wondering why I don’t have a Places to Stay section here. We were fortunate enough to stay with family while we visited! But, the amount of options with AirBnbs and hotels are abundant!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
