In my feelings this week. As I type this, we have 36 hours left in our current house.<\/a> It\u2019s been a whirlwind. So far, the pods moving system has worked really well. I\u2019ll give my full review after they make it to Texas but so far it\u2019s been great! 9 adults (including us) worked on Sunday to load them up. In just four hours we had the house packed up! Thank you family! We originally reserved 7 pods but we only ended up needing 5. This saves us almost $4000! Now as we navigate this new transition phase things are kind of difficult. <\/p>\n\n\n

We won\u2019t have as much help when we unload the pods at our new house so after this weekend – seeing how much work it was, we hired movers to help us in Texas. Then our energy can be reserved to really get the house unpacked when we are there for just 4 days in October. I\u2019m so looking forward to that!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thinking About My Kids<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I do feel very fortunate that everything with this cross country move seems to be going to plan. For anyone considering a big move like this, I highly recommend doing it prior to having kids when possible. I think that\u2019s why I\u2019ve been so emotional about it this week. Our 1 year old has no idea what\u2019s happening – he\u2019s just enjoying running around the empty house but our almost 4 year old is struggling a little bit and that\u2019s been hard for me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Things I\u2019ve heard this week, \u201cMommy, I don\u2019t want our couch to go to Texas. I want it to stay here.\u201d He\u2019s used to his morning routine of drinking milk and hanging out in the living room. \u201cMommy, I want to sleep in my bed, I don\u2019t like this air mattress.\u201d His bed ended up in the pods this weekend so he\u2019s been on his toddler air mattress the last few nights. \u201cMommy, can\u2019t we just stay here?\u201d I know he\u2019s not going to remember this time period much at all – but it\u2019s hard for me to see him uncomfortable and out of his normal routine. As I\u2019ve said before, my favorite thing about being a mom is providing a safe space for my kids and I feel like right now he doesn\u2019t have that. <\/p>\n\n\n

Don\u2019t get me wrong, he\u2019s so resilient and really has been amazing through this transition phase. I think I\u2019m just the one having a harder time with it. If I could plan this whole thing again, especially thinking about my kids – I would not have this transition phase last so long. I know I\u2019m going to continue to struggle for the next 2 months while we are out of the house they are used to and in my grandparents\u2019 house. In a perfect world, we would have moved directly to the new house skipping this transition phase all together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, life doesn\u2019t always work out that way – life is a mother** after all! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
